We are exploring the option of moving closer to work and school. If I could pick my home up and move it, I certainly would, because this house works for us. We have customized it for our large family, and have not found another that checks off all of my 'must haves' anywhere close to this price range.
Our home is situated on just over 6 acres of land in the northwest corner of Tama County. We are about 1.3 miles off of the blacktop on a gravel road. Our nearest neighbor is about a half mile away. The perimeter of our property is lined with trees on the north, east and west sides, providing an excellent wind block. We have a nice view of the farmland across the road looking south out our front door. What a lovely place to sit and sip an iced tea on a warm summer afternoon!
We have a bit of pastureland on the west side of the property where wildflowers grow. We like to mow a nice path through it and take walks, jog, or just play tag.
Our house sits a nice distance back from the road, eliminating some of the dust from rolling in on the summertime breeze, and keeping the kids safe from traffic when playing outside.
There is plenty of room for a soccer game, some ga-ga ball, swinging, or playing in the treehouse.

A few years back we extended the driveway to provide room for at least 9 cars to park in front of the attached three car garage. It also provides room for a nice basketball game or for little ones to ride their bicycles.
When entering the home, there is a large entryway with a coat closet. We have a keyless lock coming in from the attached garage to the entryway.
Straight ahead is a bathroom with shower and custom pantry, and an additional storage closet behind the shower.
The kitchen has been completely updated. It features a unique brick wall with double ovens and a wood burning fireplace that is also open to the family room.
The carpet in the family room has been replaced, as well as new drywall, lighting, and window. There is plenty of storage for games or anything else you desire. There is a wood/corn/wheat burning stove in the family room, ensuring that the house remains toasty warm on those super cold winter nights. We don't use it very often, but it sure warms things up when we do. The family room has french doors that open into the living room.
When leaving the kitchen the stairway leading upstairs is to your right. We refinished the original hardwood floors in the hallway, living room and dining room. There is another closet in the hallway by the stairs that we use as our 'office'.
The large living room is open to the dining room, providing plenty of room to have the whole family over for the holidays.
The upstairs landing provides access to the three second floor bedrooms, the full bath, and the laundry room, as well as the attic and another closet. All of the second and third floor windows tilt in for easy cleaning. All of the bedrooms have ceiling fans.
The first bedroom has windows on the south and west walls, and features carpet and a large closet.

The second bedroom has hardwood floors, windows on the south and east walls, and a large closet.
The third bedroom has windows on the north and east walls, hardwood floors and a large closet.
The laundry room is conveniently located on the second floor, right by all of the bedrooms. I didn't know how much I would love this feature until I had it.
The large upstairs full bath features a jetted Jacuzzi tub with tiled shower, large storage cupboards, and a cedar closet.

There is a large storage closet in the upstairs hallway.
The access to the fully finished walk-up attic/master bedroom is also on the second floor landing. We love this bright, sunny room. There are two large walk-in closets, six windows to catch a spring breeze, and plenty of room for a sofa, loveseat, and our treadmill.

While we use the attic as a master bedroom, it would also be perfect as a children's room, playroom, or perhaps a media/theater/Xbox room.
There is a barn on the property that has seen better days. We have a lot of things stored in it that we just can't bear to part with, but it is the final stop before those things go to the dump. We feel it adds some character to the property, and there would be several homeless raccoons if we were to tear it down.

On the east side of the house is a 16' X 16' deck with a large table and built in benches. It is the perfect place to grill some steaks and enjoy a summer evening.

When the sun goes down we enjoy spending some time around the fire pit making an ooey gooey batch of s'mores.
I have included the sketch of the property found on the county assessor's website.

We hope that you have enjoyed this pictoral tour of our home. If you like what you have seen and would like to take a closer look, feel free to contact me at jodiclark@iowatelecom.net. We would be happy to set up a time to get together and give you a personal showing.
At this time we do not have our property listed with a realtor and it is for sale by owner. We are asking $189,999 for our home.
